We parked on Dead Diamond Road, in the general vicinity of 44.9761889020582, -71.11599250684137, this is perpendicular to the suspension bridge to the Hellgate Hilton. W Branch road is gated. I am not cool enough to know the DOC lockbox code |

Lamb Valley Road, despite a relatively new vintage sign, from the pond is overgrown and in such a state it appears abandoned. There is blazing still visible. Perhaps its the beaver activity in the area. It satisfied our need for a general corridor to get to our peak, so no complaints |

A FINE third hike of the day. This is one of my favorite areas in NH (Second College Grant) - its just so beautiful and peaceful. Launching from Dead Diamond Road, we quickly hit W Branch Road, a simple few minute whack. From there a luxury - a trail - for about 75% of the hike. Definitely does not see a lot of use but foot bed is followable and minimal blowdowns, so very thankful for that! Great footing for the most part. We departed at "Lamb Valley Road" trail sign, which as mentioned above, is seemingly in the early stages of abandonment. For those that bushwhack bushwhack its totally fine, you still are doing that but with some random blazes. Probably hasn't been cut in 10+ years. We launched at a pair of beaver ponds in a general south west direction. There are some cliff bands and diving boards to contend with - other than that nothing really of note. Some good blueberry patches so we got to baby bear, again, on some berries. I had 5 miles on the nose in 2:40. |
