There were only a few cars at the 19-Mile Brook trailhead at 7:15am, but a lot more at 4:30pm. |

There are really only two of note on this loop, with reduced water flow from the general dryness recently. The one on the lower part of the Carter Dome trail was an easy rock hop, although there are two older and nearly level logs spanning the stream for use when water level is up. The other lower down, where the river splits somewhat among the jumble of trees long ago toppled, was similarly easy to cross. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trails in this loop are in generally in good shape. High up on the N.Carter trail, the long often wet stretch was fairly dry, with no water running down the trail. On the ridge, the various sets of bog bridges are mostly in good shape, with one or two fairly well broken. Coming down Carter Dome Trail, there is one blowdown across the trail that is too high to go over, but too low to be an easy duck under. I sort of crawled under it, wishing afterward I had taken off the pack to do so. Farther down there is a large tree that came down to block the trail completely, and a well-established herd path goes around it. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
We saw no dogs today, although a dog could have done this route. However, there are few water opportunities on much of the route, especially during a dry spell. |

Again, I used no repellent, and I was not getting bit. Low down in the afternoon I did see a mosquito that didn't seem to know what to do with a human. |

 | Lost and Found: |
We saw a tan cap sitting atop a boulder not too far up Imp. We left it there. |

 | Comments: |
This was another nice OTHH outing, with quite a range of hiking speeds. One started 1.5 hours after the rest and caught up to the slowest of us well up on the N.Carter trail, in just 1.5 hours, thus averaging literally twice the speed of those overtaken. Another faster hiker had gone on ahead, to do the out-and-back to bag N. Carter itself, and then caught up to the rest around Middle Carter. Five of the group went on past Zeta Pass to bag Carter Dome, three of them via Mt Hight for the views. |
