Fun couple hours bushwhacking along the ridge of Pitcher Mtn. in Stoddard in search of fresh berries. There were some, including some very tasty raspberries, but in general they still need more time to percolate.
In full summer, it was very noticeable today that the summit area of Pitcher is not nearly as open as it was years ago. Views are still good, especially from the fire tower, but trees and shrubs continue to take over the open ledges.
Reduced heat and humidity made this more pleasant than recent outings. |
