 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
See my report for Cambridge Black Southeast from earlier in the day for more info.
Drove to the landing to the SE of the peak. Plenty of space to park.
I had seriously considered approaching from Mud Pond Rd to the NW, which looked very driveable from the jct with Big Brook, but once we had to drive Black STRAP anyways for Cambridge Black SE, we opted for the approach from the SE. |

We followed the obvious overgrown road from the initial landing until we were about due east of the peak (this was a mistake), then headed west, hitting some decent switchbacking woods roads which we followed to a fern field where it petered out. Then we headed up, eventually achieving the SE knob, where it got thick for a bit until the col between the summit and knob where it opened up again. Easy to find the highpoint. Descending we took a much better route, heading ESE, but NE of the knob. Good woods then hit the woods road, which we followed back to the same fern area (contour at the ferns), and mostly all the way back to the landing. Turns out there's a much better road diverging from the landing just west of the more obvious overgrown one and it parallels the overgrown one for awhile, so if you miss is, just whack west from the overgrown road for 100 ft.
