PLENTY of parking at the Three Ponds Trailhead - only a few cars in the lot mid-day and room for many more |

Crossings were mostly rock-hoppable but there were a lot of mud pits |

several larger blowdowns and deadfall around the loop |

horseflies near the ponds but did not feel need to use DEET. Used a head net at times. |

Terrific loop - always enjoyable. NOTE: From the Mt Kineo Trail to the Donkey Hill Cutoff, the beavers have apparently taken control of the region - the water is overflowing the trail and it took us a long time to navigate the gentle pools of mud that were once the trail. From there to the spur to the shelter, the mud ponds/trails were continuous. |
