Trails
Trails: Sawyer River Road, Signal Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 4, 2026
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There were about 8 cars in the lot at 6:15am, which surprised me. I didn't see all that many folks early on so I have no clue where they all were. At 1p when I finished, the lot was full and there were quite a few cars parked on the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Totally rock hoppable even for short legged folks. Just choose your route and test the rocks for wobbliness.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few stepovers and one duck under.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: 6 most excellent doggos were seen today and all seemed to be having a great day with their well prepared humans. HUGE shoutout to Thor. He received so many pets today and was exceedingly dapper in his bow tie. Congratulations to him for reaching 39/48. The bestest boi.
Bugs
Bugs: This was supposed to be a solo hike. I didn't realize that I would be joined by 1000 of my closest mosquito friends. I managed to ditch them close to Signal Ridge, only to have them rejoin me for my trek back to the car. Bug spray was helpful in keeping them from invading my personal space.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing lost and nothing found.

Comments
Comments: Trail conditions were really good. There are some areas where the trail is wet and muddy but much of the trail was dry. It was super humid to start and got hot quickly but the rocks on the steeps and on misery mile were pretty dry overall. There was the loveliest breeze on the tower and I had it all to myself. How on earth that happened, on a holiday is beyond me. I only saw a handful of people on my ascent but counted 37 on my descent. I lost count of all the folks I saw on the road walk out. Things got busy and fast but I had the nicest day and everyone I saw was in good spirits. What a great day to be out and about!
