Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: on lower section of King Ravine the crossing over Spur Brook required a big rock hop that was risky.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Thank you for clearing the lower section of the King Ravine Trail! So much more enjoyable that two weeks ago. There is a large maple that I think has been there for a while but should be removed because it is not a step over, it is a climb over on Air Line elevation approx 2240 feet (it is above intersection with Randolph Path) The sign for Mossy Fall is still missing
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I wouldn't take my dog up Mt. Adams
Bugs
Bugs: Vexing biting black flies found me while I did trail work

Comments
Comments: Solo return to Chemin des Dames to check out Danielle's and my adopted trail. We knew we needed some more clean-up brushing just before the trail meets Air Line.
Up Lowe's Path to King Ravine Trail it was so flipping HUMID! Rocks slippery, my glasses fogged up and my sweat soaked my shirt. Delighted to find that from Lowe's to Pentadoi the big blown downs have been cleared, fresh sawdust! Was happy to break out into the sun that went in and out of the clouds. Passed by a few hikers on Lowe's Path headed to Crag Camp and a family at Mossy Fall.
Chemin des Dames was dry since it had been in the breeze and sun. Happy to report that I only removed minor limbs and tossed some of the debris that we missed last fall off the trail. I helped out a couple of the rock cairns on the open talus slope but near its top you can't see the next cairn--something to think about here but it adds to the adventure the route finding.
Just below the intersection of Air Line the spruce scrub and birch filling in trail and some people scurried up a gully not the trail, I carried the brush and tried to block it off. I trimmed away and it was interesting to see that the brush has pushed the trail off the original treadway over the years. I lopped away and now that treadway is clear it is easier to stay on the trail.
I ate a late lunch where Chemin des Dames meets Air Line. I was joyous to meet 3 teenage boys coming up our trail and they went the correct way. They said they loved the trail and said it was so much fun. They were headed for a night at Madison Hut and then a Presi Traverse the next day.
I descended Air Line it was wet and muddy in many places. Met an AMC trail-tender out for the weekend! I picked my way down Air Line it was slippery and turned left on Beechwood Way and the path was so nice and soft. I took herd path straight to cut underpowerline to the Presidential Rail Trail. Oh dear me I had forgotten how uphill that 1.5 miles back to Lowe's that required more effort than I liked to get back to Lowe's Trailhead. I bet over 40 bicycles were riding downhill towards me. Good results today, now we can put our trail clearing efforts into the Great Gully Trail.
