Comments
Comments: We were very surprised at the amount of snow on the Loop trail. We brought snowshoes because of the postings from earlier that week, and were very thankful that we did. The 2 people we encountered on microspikes were struggling getting up to South Hancock, a lot of wasted effort slipping and sliding. We used the snow shoes for most of the Loop trail. Not a lot of postholing on the trail. On the way down from Hancock, we could have switched to microspikes (or bared booted it) because of the melting snow/exposed roots, but we kept them until we completed the Loop trail. We then barebooted it back to the parking lot. Glorious hiking day!
