Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Even trails themselves could be considered water crossings. All kidding aside, under normal conditions even Shorty would not have problems. These were not normal conditions. I just waded through everything.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few blowdowns here and there. The lightly used portion of Cedar Brook good, evidence of a recently dispatched blowdown. Even the area in the Pemi was easy to follow. There was a messy blowdown, a faint herd path has formed around it. Although it might be nice to have some bog boards in place, this is a designated wilderness area, so it would be a huge undertaking. Great big thanks to the maintainers.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw none today.
Bugs
Bugs: One mosquito at the start. Rain was not to their liking.

Comments
Comments: Did this for the trace. Did about half of the trail. Will go back for the rest from Pemi Eastside. As mentioned here and in Uki's report, there was more rain than the weather reported had said. I went in expecting to get wet.

Plant lovers- Prema noticed a Tamarack tree in the open wet area shortly before the Loop trail. When you pass the Loop junction, there are a phenomenal amount of Lady Slippers the first 10th of a mile or so. Trout lilies, bunch berries, too. The height of land is beautiful. Relatively flat and marshy. A special place, this is one of the sources of my (and millions of others in the Merrimack Valley and other places) drinking water. We went further, but had a turn around time. Will be back to get the rest. Highly recommended!
