Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There were 4 cars already in the lot at 7:45, and this lot can hold 6 cars if parked well. There were 3 after we left at 2:30. The dirt segment of Carter Notch road is fairly smooth but has some big potholes, although those can be avoided. We made it out in a sedan.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: There were a handful, but all were rock hoppable. The third crossing on Bog Brook trail required going upstream slightly, but then it could be rock hopped. There is also a logging road with bridges that I believe goes over the three river crossings on the start of Bog Brook trail, but we didn't use it.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in great shape! There were some minor blowdowns on Bog Brook trail that were easy to step over, but none that created a challenge throughout the day.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Coming down Cater-Moriah trail from Carter Dome is a bit steep but probably manageable for experienced dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly not too bad. Didn't wear bug spray and didn't feel like I needed it.

Comments
Comments: Bog Brook trail was pretty muddy, as expected, but it was manageable. This trail was a nice walk through the woods, passing some marshes along the way. There was also a significant number (60+) of Pink Lady's Slippers, including upwards to 30 fully white variants.

Rainbow trail is a great way to ascend Carter Dome, and it was much less overgrown than I was expecting. This trail was easy to follow and the southern knob of Carter Dome offered great views in all directions.

Wildcat River trail is very gradual throughout, and an easy descent from the hut to the Bog Brook trailhead.

All trails throughout the day were pleasantly easy to follow and although we got rained on a little it was still a great hike! 3 new Redline trails + Carter Dome in the spring and June
