Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We were able to park off the pavement at the Lowe's Trailhead. Appears parking is still available at the closed Lowe's store lot.

Recommended Equipment

Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Mud Puddles/wet area while crossing under the gas line row is tricky. Most everything easily rock hop-able. On lower King Ravine section the crossing of Spur Brook was just barely rock hop-able--it took a brave jump to keep our feet dry.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nice newish stone stairways on Lowe's Path, greatly appreciated. Brushy sections on Great Gully, we're working on it. Blazes need to be repainted. Where Great Gully meets King Ravine Trail it needs brushing. King Ravine below Pentadoi--five way intersection King Ravine has many blow downs and needs some serious TLC
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dont' take your dog on the sharp rocks of the Northern Presidentials please, protect their paws
Bugs
Bugs: Yup mean black flies attacked us on our descent in the afternoon.

Comments
Comments: This is a super day! We started up the trail at 7:45. The Cabin is clean and in good condition. The new-ish stone staircases on Lowes Path make getting up those steep slaps much pleasant. We tapped Abby's summit as we went by. Super windy from Thunderstorm Junction to Adams'summit. Ate lunch by the much small Thunderstorm Junction Cairn, sigh. We headed down our newly adopted trail, Great Gully. At three line we cut away a lot of creeping scrub Spruce and Wow who knew how much pollen these things and release. We kept pollen bombing ourselves as we lopped away. We managed to clear about half a mile of the densely covered trail, quitting at elevation 5040. On the way down we saw what a challenge we have taken on to brush this trail and it needs the blazes re-painted. We even discovered a rock cairn that was completely covered by vegetation. We brushed out the trail and blocked the wrong way at the water crossing below the Cascade even though we had vowed to keep our loppers in our packs after quitting time. Cutting out just one more thing takes up a lot of time. We took the King Ravine Trail all the way back to Lowes Path, it doesn't follow the contour--there are lots of ups and downs before finally intersecting Lowes. We were more than an hour late to the RMC trail adopter party and even though we were tired and dirty we were welcomed with open arms, cold beverages and lots of yummy food. Thank you John and the RMC for hosting us. It was nice to meet other RMC trial adopters and RMC crew members. Danielle and I greatly appreciated Monkey joining us in our efforts. We are happy she wants to join us next time too.
