Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was the first to arrive and got the coveted spot off the side of the road near the trailhead. There is plenty of off road parking available.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I rock hopped them with good success despite being funsized! Honestly, it was pretty easy crossing today.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Kudos to the trail adopter for Pine Bend Brook trail. Seriously, I owe you a hot fudge sundae with extra whipped cream and bananas. The axe work and removal of blow downs is amazing. Super smooth sailing today. Thank you!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I was fortunate to cross paths with the lovely Lucy and her people. She was doing amazing and had the benefit of 4 feet as compared to my 2. There is plenty of water down low for dogs but once you get above the steeps, there is no water for them.
Bugs
Bugs: I used DEET right off the bat and had my trusty bug net ready for quick deployment but never needed it. I think just having it within sight caused them to flee. I did have to reapply bug spray before the descent to keep them at bay.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing lost and nothing found

Comments
Comments: Well, this was supposed to be a rest day but after getting up at 4am and checking the weather I opted to roll the dice. The area clearly got hit with lots of rain last night. The trail was wet with water pooling and flowing in spots. There are some deep squelchy areas of mud. The steeps were wet and slick so I took my time ascending and descending. There is water flowing on that section as well but the rocks were pretty grippy. I found the ones that weren't grippy too. Things were less muddy on the Mt Tripyramid trail but still very wet. I just took my time and did fine. It was great to bump into Tom I. and his crew who are working on the NH 500 highest. I hadn't seen Tom since our fateful trail breaking hike on the Twins and Galehead last winter. The skies cleared up nicely over the course of the day. I was really glad I didn't stay home.
