 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a couple, but I think they and their humans turned back due to difficulty of scrambling over those ledge areas. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Not bad if we kept in motion, but that's hard to do on the rock ledge scrambles, going down or up. They were a nuisance, yet I didn't don the head net. |

 | Comments: |
Caps Ridge is one mean trail, due to the multitude of rock scrambles. Besides the dog turnarounds mentioned, at least four other humans turned back even before that 30-40 ft rock face at the first big bump (a "cap"?). Our group (OTHH), certainly not young kids who can scamper over those ledges with ease, took almost four hours for the last of us to get up top, well over "book time." Coming down was nearly three hours, due to very slow picking one's way down over the rocks and ledges. The weather was great, though, with dry rock and long views. |
