Comments
Comments: Schorman and Lady Di are right (see report for the Hancocks) - winter has returned to the White Mountains. I had 45 minutes of hail and then it turned to snow and continued to snow for a couple of hours.

Greeley Pond Tr is intermittent ice and bare. I barebooted in both directions but some may prefer light traction.

The Osceola trail is mostly covered and after about 1/2 mile the snow starts to become significant - ending with 6-8" on the ridge. I tried microspikes but did not get much traction and switched to 10-point crampons.

Between the 2 peaks the snow is even more significant - 10-12" and more when covering pockets here and there. Snowshoes would have been great (if only I have had the wisdom to bring them!). However, the monorail (mostly covered now) is so narrow in sections that some sliding can be expected with snowshoes as well. There is just no perfect solution right now.

The Chimney bypass was easy.
