Great meeting LongMark. He had a 2 hour head start on us and was about a 1/4 mile beyond the junction where the two summits split when we met. He wore crampons descending from South Peak & told us he wished he had snow shoes for the walk between the summits...He was right!
We bare booted up to South Peak in 6 inches of fresh, dense snow which provided good footing for the steep climb. There was 6 - 8 inches of snow on the trail between summits.
Once again the snow provided a good base for safely descending North Peak.
We bare booted the entire trek. Winter has returned in the mountains. |
