Trails
Trails: power line, Gordon Pond Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, May 3, 2026
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Tricky. I read of problems on a few different sites. I first tried Resevoir Road but that has a sign "Closed for Season". I then drove up Sundance Road until I found a short dirt road that leads to the power line. There was a no parking sign in front of one residence, but there is plenty of room further up the road.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant, Snow/Ice - Postholes

Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: After yesterday's rain, there are two crossings that require stepping on slightly submerged rocks, until water levels drop.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I don't think this trail gets much traffic. I moved a hundred movable branches, but there are 6 or so big trees on the path.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I found a single microspike just below the pond. Email me a description (color, brand, size) and I will mail it to you.

Comments
Comments: A nice 11 mile out-and-back. There are stories of Forest Service closing the trail, unhappy landowners, blah, blah, which I don't get because this is a seldom used trail. I hiked the power lines to a spur trail that brings you over to GPT. From there to Gordon Falls, it's all beech and other hardwoods. Right now the there are long stretches of mud, but this trail looks to get very little use and it's completely covered in leaves and rocks are covered in moss. Above Gordon Falls, it becomes thick, alpine softwoods and the last half mile still has 6" of snow in places.
