Comments: Started this hike at about 730 from the Cog parking lot. They have added an electronic payment kiosk for parking permits. We did not carry snow shoes. Sections of the route that we took (up the cog, down to Lake of the Clouds Hut, & back up) could have benefited from use of snowshoes, but you would have had to take them off after 5 minutes. These were areas where wind had created minor snow drifts from whatever fell during the week. The day was rare in that we had almost 100% sun exposure. Some of us were burned badly as a result of the sun reflecting off of the snow (wearing hats but no face protection). By the end of the day I had a headache from the sun myself. All in all a flawless spring day with almost no wind though...
