Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Two small drainages open but just walk overs.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One large blowdown that is a crawl over, and a couple of duck unders. I took out one blowdown and left a few leaning into the trail. Hard to see some of the cairns as such due to rime/snow.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I just picked up the mighty tough little dog and carried him across the two drainages. Other than that it was fantastic for the little guy with his four clawpaw drive.

Comments
Comments: Only saw three other groups, 6+ young women who were doing a traverse by camping near Edmunds, 4 guys who wanted to do a traverse and may have camped near Madison Hut, and two later in the day snowhoers on Valley Way. The two groups used bareboots or crampons on Valley Way and above treeline. I used microspikes up Valley and then up and down Madison, snowshoes to Adams and down. It was a great downhill snowhoe boogie but I couldn't keep up with the little mutt. Above treeline one didn't need to follow a trail, it was crusty snow just about everywhere. Windy on Madison for me but that may have been temporary; modest wind on Adams, otherwise no wind. Sunny, mildish temps and great views. What a great way to get away from the work computers.
