spotty areas of snow that get more dense as you get higher up. small bit of monorailing here and there. Took the hiking trails up and the snowmobile trails down. Snow was generally very solid so no concerns about post holing. Did the first 3/4 mile bare booted but put on microspikes to the top from there to make things easier. Similar on the way down. Seems like some of these chunks of snow could be here for a couple more weeks. Also of note there was some flowing water on the lower half of the trail which resulted in some areas of mud too, not a problem with waterproof boots. All in conditions may have been more favorable as it had dropped into the 20s overnight so everything seemed to be hardened up. |
