Mostly dry, bare ground to the last water crossing. From there to the summit and back, light traction is recommended. Lots of bare rocks showing, but mostly frozen rail with a dusting of fresh snow. I saw one fellow without traction ascending while on my way down. Faster track with traction to be sure. One can leave the snowshoes home for this one. The snowpack is not very deep, so any softening wouldn't be an issue. Bright and sunny with very little winds. Nice talking with John from New Hampshire today.
