Reading the past reports, I wasn’t sure what would be the best way to avoid posted land here on this NH500 peak. I ended up going with the shortest way, as Campsite and Cookies reported, just a straight line bushwhack by crossing the power lines. I first tried to check out the trails shown off Edgar Albert road, but all appeared posted. I asked a resident and they had no idea what I was talking about, had never even heard of Jewell Hill. In the register at the top, someone mentioned that the summit is owned by the Buck-N-Horse campground, on Brock lane, and they might allow hiking if you ask there. There is also parking at Sculptured Rocks, and a snowmobile trail there but I wasn’t sure which trails to take and with the spring conditions I opted for the shortest route. The hike I did took about an hour total. |
