Trace to an inch or so of new snow had fallen, but a lot had melted even in the time I hiked. Bare ground and bare boots to start. Put on spikes after the last water crossing. from there on I was pretty much on snow. A little ice hiding under the snow, but mostly nice smooth packed snow. possible to not use traction, but it was nice to not expend all that extra energy slipping. Beautiful day on the trail. |
