Comments
Comments: Barebooted to the main water crossing on mostly bare trail. Put on spikes there for the crossing and left them on down to the reroute of Gale River Trail. Crossing was interesting but only light water flow .. Moderate rail started pretty soon on the climb to North Twin..narrow in spots but stable..you could walk on the side in many places in a few inches of soft snow. Most snow of the day was between the Twins. Very choppy surface in places..3 feet of snow above 4500 feet or so. Great to run into and chat with Bobcat, Sunshine, and Kris on South Twin and we lingered awhile in the nearly calm winds.. Nice views today. Descent to the hut had pretty solid monorail with stretches of soft blue ice which required some care. Solid monorail with some bare rock to Galehead..decent views up there on the still elevated snowpack.Garfield Ridge trail had some ice and postholes as did upper parts of GaleRiver Trail..easy going on the monorail though in most spots. Easy walk down from the reroute on frozen mud or dry trail. Great day out with Valerie and Bryan
