Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The one significant brook crossing on the Liberty Spring Trail was running high. I am not a fan of long hops on icy rocks, so I am glad I brought a couple of trash bags to use as waders, which worked okay for the task.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: No major blowdown issues. Some minor windfall, especially on Franconia Ridge Trail, easy to get by. Signage seemed okay.

Dog-Related Notes: No pups seen today.

Comments
Comments: Route was in very good shape for spiking after recent warm up and hard freeze. Lower section, up to about 2100 feet, had some bare trail, wet leaves, ice, running water, etc. Above that point the trail was consistently firm snow. The many postholes were easily avoided. I wore rock spikes up to Liberty, Hillsounds over to Flume and back to Liberty, and kept them on down to 2100 feet, where I put the rock spikes back on. There were a very few spots of water ice on the Liberty Spring Trail, easily skirted. The iciest spots were in the open near the summit of Liberty, some of which were covered with a skiff of new snow. No issues with "bendovers" on the ridge, perhaps thanks to the recent thaw.
