Comments
Comments: I'm very glad I read a carter reports from 3/14 that said they wish they had real crampons, I brought mine and they made this so much easier on the second half of the uphill when there turned into a bunch of sections with sheets of ice that were too steep for my microspikes (I kept sliding down). There was an older couple that passed me on their way down and they did the whole thing in microspikes and I have no idea how. The first mile and a half of the trail was pretty much melted out on my return around 6pm (but surprisingly not very muddy). The upper sections of the trail were slightly powdery (like 2" maybe) but pretty compact/frozen beneath that, bit of a monorail but a lot of the sides of the monorail were already post holed and everything was pretty frozen so you could step almost anywhere and feel solid without creating another posthole
