Comments
Comments: 4 to 6 inches of fresh snow from yesterday/last night. No issues while in the trees. Snowshoes up the cog to the tree line then spikes for the remainder of the day. The snow was blown off much of the trails above tree line on the way up the Cog and Gulfside while heading up to Washington. Crawford Path (and the 2 loop trails) from Washington down to the trees after Eisenhower was a mixed bag of rock, ice, snow and deep drifts. Everyone we saw stayed in crampons or micro spikes. there were too many transition points to change from snowshoes to spikes and back again. Once in the trees after Eisenhower, the trail transitioned to a very firm surface all the way to the Crawford Connector. Between Eisenhower and Pierce there were a number of areas where a monorail has formed sometimes very narrow and with some deep postholes.
