Comments
Comments: Nice day to tackle Carrigain. The refreeze left much of the trail hardened, and there was an inch or two of fresh powder on trail when I started out. The road walk was a bit of a mess, but I was able to bare boot until the uphill began, just under 5 miles from the car. Snowshoes went on then, mostly for Televators but they did help grip going uphill. On the way back down, the snow had really consolidated underfoot and was beginning to turn to mush as I made my way down the road. Nice time to hit this one before it gets real awful for the spring. A few other groups out today made for a solid pack, but I’d still suggest snowshoes as it’s not entirely consolidated and Signal Ridge would have been tricky to navigate without them.
