Well that was not 100% fun the entire time lol. We started off in spikes and there was about an inch or two of fresh sticky snow on the ground. One of us switched to snow shoes because our micro spikes were not as sharp as they should be. Once I got to the junction. I kept my spikes on which I have Hill sounds. Thankfully, the trail was not collapsing like it was last Sunday. Up to Zeta pass there was minimal snow, but a lot of ice loses. This is where I put on my snow shoes, but was very very bony. Once up at the peak, there was more snow. We only saw total of seven people out today three going to the Wildcats three doing the two peaks we did and one that did the Carter’s and Wildcats. It got very post hole on top thankfully everything had froze up and there was about 6 inches of fresh new snow on top. Coming down north Carter and the imp Trail we expected it to be wet but did not expect the amount of ice luge that the trail was. Crampons would’ve been very useful and way safer than snow shoes or micro spikes. Once we got down to the lower elevation, spikes, and snow shoes started to ball up because the snow was so sticky. Long long day nine peaks left. |
