|
 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
we parked on route 302 for free ... you could opt to pay $10 to park in the amc highprice center lot, or park in the Crawford Connector lot (pretty sure that lot requires a WMNF parking pass or $5/day) |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
minor crossings were negligible, but with this week's warmer weather, river crossings will be raging throughout the northeast - be careful out there |

|
 | Lost and Found: |
we found a set of traction devices and some hiker gear / clothing which probably belonged to a trail runner from Maine who parked in front of us - we turned that gear in to the friendly folks working at the desk in the amc highprice center building, where people who are staying there check in - you can call or stop by to pick up your abandoned gear ... |

 | Comments: |
half of our crew of eight wore snowshoes up Crawford Path to Mount Pierce summit, half wore microspikes ... with this week's warm weather, you should bring snowshoes ... paths are firm but if you step a bit off center you'll posthole even wearing snowshoes ...
we decided to hike over Pierce to Mizpah Hut, then out via Mizpah Cutoff and down Crawford Path ... snowshoes required on that cutoff and between Pierce and Jackson, or you'll be postholing up to your crotch and wondering whether the Mountain Gods love you ?
