Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Wildly different crossings from morning to afternoon. In the morning, the larger crossing on Gale River Trail was bridged and our group walked across it without any issues. Other smaller crossings/drainages took a little time and consideration to make it across in the morning, just to avoid dunking boots. In the afternoon, the larger crossing was completely open - not a trace of the snow bridge that was there in the morning. Smaller crossings/drainages were slushy or required rock hopping. Water definitely went over the top of boots several times.

Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There's a bright, highlighter yellow dog bootie on the North Twin Spur sign on the summit of South Twin. Left it there in case the dog/owner was out in the area. There were a few items on the Gale River Trail kiosk right by the summer parking area, but I don't recall what those were.

Comments
Comments: Conditions were much more like April than March. Trails got beat up pretty good - everyone was wearing snowshoes and still postholed, especially along the outer edges of the packed trail. The snow didn't ball up on the bottom of the snowshoes like I might have expected it to today. Water crossings were tougher in the afternoon, as noted above. No need for spikes or crampons today - snowshoes did the trick.

Heading over to North Twin, the trail wasn't super easy to follow. A few of us ended up in spruce traps when we accidentally navigated off trail, so use caution.

The South Twin summit is mostly bare rock and mud with a some patches of mud.

Frost Trail up to Galehead Mt. was fine with no issues to report. Previous reports mentioned lots of snow falling off the overhanging limbs, but there was hardly any snow to be see on the trees today.
