Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We used the old snowmobile trail bridges to avoid the fast running water at the trail crossings. Use caution at the drainage crossings as there was deep slush under what looked like stable snow bridging the gaps.

Trail Maintenance Notes: one large blowdown that’s been there for a while with an easy walk around up in the switchbacks

Comments
Comments: Use snowshoes and stay in the middle of the track. We found it easier to use snowshoes in the loose wet snow on the initial road walk. Switched to spikes at the trailhead where we encountered bare ground, ice and a little loose snow in places. Snowshoes back on for the bushwhack for the bridges and they stayed on for the duration. all the folks without snowshoes turned around except one group of 3 we encountered as we were heading back down. There were areas of deep slush in the area of the switchbacks (and one before) where the drainages cross. The trail was in better condition above the 3rd of 4th switchback. The final climb up Garfield Ridge Trail was still in great shape fully snow covered w/o post holes while the summit was clear of ice and snow. The edges of the trail were unstable throughout. 9 sets of snowshoes made it to the summit but there is no telling what damage the 3 without did to the trail as they were the last ones on the trail.
