Comments
Comments: Spring conditions are here. We encountered several hikers coming from the crossings above the hut who were absolutely soaked from the waist down. We had a group of 4 plus a dog- I sunk up to my knees in the slush of one of these crossings an had to be lifted out (with snowshoes on)
One of our group had a time limitation and turned back after north kinsman. On his way out, he had to throw his dog over the crossing then proceeded to sink up to his chest in the slush.
We all wore spikes for maybe a mile, then snowshoes the rest of the way. Snow became softer after the hut, and between North and South Peak would not have been manageable without the snowshoes. Very slow moving and treacherous conditions. We did not see any other tracks ahead of us on the peaks. On our way out, we encountered a few who made it past the water crossings. Hope they made it out safe
