Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lot is very icey, and was busy but not full at 8:30 and still room for our parts 3 cars. We car pooled from the cannon tram lot to reduce the number of cars.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Spring Snow, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Snowshoes, Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: We used the two old snowmobile trail ramps as water was up high. In am you might have made it across both using your water proof boots, but it was much higher when we returned
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Big spruce tree down two miles from summit, it landed in trail center parallel to the trail. Heard path around needed to get by.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One. But the snow is so deep and soft not sure I would take my dog, slightly off trail and she would sink to her chest.
Bugs
Bugs: Not just yet
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One can of cooking spray perhaps someone used on their traction

Comments
Comments: The warm weather is melting and turning the snow to slush fast. We used spikes for the rd walk out, but not great, so used snow shoes on way back. Surface is 4” of soft snow and slush. The trail from summer parking lot to first water crossing was 50% ice and %50 bare ground and mud. After water crossing it is snow shoes. As you get higher the trail is pretty chewed up. Certainly some bare boot post holes but they don’t make it to summit. Lots of post holes from snow shoes though. The slightest off center of trail risked a knee deep post holes. One of our bigger hikers went knee deep into a slush trap. The steep parts had good traction, but also water flowing under the snow in places creation post hole traps. But the flatter parts were a bit of a grind. Overall a good hike but conditions are going down hill fast and without cold weather, it is full on spring yuck.
