The trail was gnarly today. We stayed in the Zealand hut last night and were the first group out of the hut this morning. I am genuinely curious how many others followed. Everyone we saw going up the trail turned around. It was a nasty trail day, deep melting snow, lots of postholing and very slow going. Stream crossings that were mostly ignored yesterday on the way up were nearly waist-deep due to the combination of melt and runoff.
We lost two snowshoes, Redfeather brand (hiker 22's), one red and one black. If anyone finds them and wants to shout out, I'd love to get them back. I might try going up to look in a couple of weeks once things calm down :). |
