Postholes from bare boots and snowshoes right from the get-go. We used snowshoes all the way. Warm 55 degree day led to more postholing even with snowshoes, with lots of sliding off to the side. Seemed like the monorail was 1 snowshoe wide, and we just had to hope we were on it. Some bare boot post holes after the Ripley intersection were at least 2 feet deep. Why they continued we cannot fathom.
Water crossings opening up rapidly. Slog became not fun so we turned back a little shy of the turn-off to the pond. |
