Bare booted up to the stream crossing on about an inch of new snow. Snow was sticky in this section. After the stream the snow became more powdery so switched to snowshoes, though spikes would work also as the trail was solid under the new snow. At the stone wall the other snowshoe tracks stopped and the one set of bare boots I had followed continued for about 20' before they turned back. The snow was very drifted from the wall to the snowmobile trail. From the snow mo junction to the summit there was one other set of snowshoe tracks that had come up the snowmobile trail. Conditions were varied on the snowmobile track from new snow to drifts. No sign of anyone taking the Piper - Whiteface Link Tr recently though a trough was visible. |
