 | Comments: |
bluebird day on the Presi Range ! basking sun and warm temps above 25F led to sticky snow on the trails, clumping underfoot on traction of your choice, which slowed down the pace ... frozen granular texture to the sticky snow is like wedding cake frosting ...
wore micro spikes up to Jefferson summit, then took them off after hiking below treeline on Jewell, barebooting down from there ... trails are supportive enough that you don't currently need snowshoes, but you should carry snowshoes in case you end up off trail, or if trail conditions change due to next week's weather ... enjoy Winter while it lasts !
the cog was running on its Winter schedule, skiers were enjoying their runs on a bluebird Winter day that felt like spring
