Cody had a blast; especially on the descent. Mushers secret worked well to keep snow from balling on his paws. Trail is pretty easy for the hiking pup, but no running water during winter. 2 other pups on trail. |

Cody found a black Eddie Bauer fleece glove on the trail; we left it at the trail head kiosk. |

Trail is packed but soft. Snowshoes all the way to Waumbek and back to Star King hoping conditions would improve at higher elevation; terrible balling for whole route. Switched to bare booting for the descent down from Star King, with a little slipping but much easier. Most others had best luck bare booting. Lots of snow bombs, especially on the ridge trail between peaks. |
