Comments
Comments: Snowshoes door to door although spikes could work down low in the morning coolness but SS are the better choice. Up higher and certainly on the ridge SS were necessary for the deepening and soft snow. We followed 3 people all in snowshoes through the col between Liberty and Flume and it's nicely packed out but very soft. And with the warm weather snowshoes will be absolutely necessary! And the slightest divergence from the midline of the SS trench will land you in snow up to the next generation. Also lots of Hobbit hiking in the col so be prepared for that as well as tree pee and snow bombs although many have already dropped. However several very large snow bombs are locked and loaded and if they fall on you it'll hurt. If not they'll likely block the trail. Just another reason to wear your snowshoes!
