Comments
Comments: Did the loop portion counter-clockwise: 19 Mile Brook all the way to the hut; up Carter-Moriah Trail to the peaks; then down Carter Dome Trail. The ascent from the notch is quite steep, but the trail is packed and mostly free of ice. I guess you could do the loop clockwise without a problem.

Trail conditions ranged from ice (down low), to mashed potatoes, to deep drifts (up high). Other trip reports indicate hikers have been on Carter-Moriah Trail recently, but you wouldn't know it based on the stretch between Carter Dome and Mt. Hight. The drifts are impressive up there. I'm glad I had snowshoes for that section. (Actually, I wore snowshoes the whole way. The heel lifts were handy for the first six miles.)

Gorgeous 360 degree views from Mt. Hight and lots of partial views elsewhere on the route. It was a good day.
