Last nights snow made for a long tough day of trail breaking. Conditions ranged from 8-10" of powder to even deeper drifts,to heavy wet snow. Even with flexible snowshoes there was significant balling up. Entire loop has seen five sets of snowshoes but is still very unconsolidated. Snowshoes are really the only tool for the job at this point. All the steep ascents were relatively easy as any ice was under the snow. |
