Comments
Comments: Trail conditions were dreamy. I started in spikes since it was 2 degrees at the trailhead and things were frozen nice and solid. Once I got to the steeps, I switched to snowshoes for better traction and televators. The trail even where it was smooth from butt sledding, was super grippy and I just walked right up the steep sections. Up higher there was some powder where the wind has blown the trail back in a bit but it was no big deal at all. I kept my snowshoes on for the descent as well and felt like spiderman just walking right down. I barebooted the last 1.5 miles to the car. I saw folks in spikes who seemed to be doing fine. Lynn used snowshoes on the ascent and K-10s on the descent and had no issues. Today was pretty much dealer's choice for traction but with the warmer temps and rain coming to soften the trails (UGH GROSS) snowshoes will be the tool of choice to preserve the trails. This was a great day to grid out the Tris and grid out March.
