Comments
Comments: The trails were great. I used some tie clip repaired microspikes once we hit the ice buldges and kept them on until we got back to that spot. Georg barebooted the entire way. The ice bulges on Mt. Kinsman & Kinsman Ridge are pretty easy with spikes, without them they would be tricky, and we heard some turned back for that reason. Georg, being part mountain goat, had no problems although on the way down he did slip on one but he turned it into a Gumby slide down on one foot. I carried snowshoes but I knew I'd never likely use them, and didn't. On top there was maybe 2 inches of powder from yesterday's snow; very little down low and it was mostly gone on the hike down.

Somehow I had never been to the ledges below the North peak outlook and the views from them with Kinsman Pond below are special. We took the old trail out at the bottom so Georg could show me the ruins of a very odd house that are just off the trail. It was all triangle shapes, even the concrete entrance. We met a fair number of people up high, and more down low with many dogs, all fun to chat with on a pleasant day. There was little wind on top, and after the clouds cleared wonderful vistas. Spring down low. A favorite trail, good conditions, wonderful companions, on a nice day. Can't beat that.
