Comments
Comments: Snowshoes door to door today. From the parking lot back, all trails are well broken out but still a bit unconsolidated (more so at higher elevations, obviously). Even with snowshoes on, if you step off, you will quickly be in deep. The ledges are as easy as I’ve ever experienced them. There are large, well-packed snow piles on all of them, making for easy work even with snowshoes on. Until the trail consolidates more and/or there is a freeze-thaw cycle, I can’t imagine crampons being necessary or useful. A few postholes especially on the Passaconaway half of the loop, but very few on the Whiteface side. We tried to fill a few in, with mixed success.

Great conditions—go get it!
