Was lucky to be the second one out today, so I was greeted with hard packed trails. Barebooted the first mile plus, then threw on snowshoes to help with the climb. Trail was hard packed until Liberty.
Finding the trail over to Flume takes a little searching due to it being blown over, but it becomes clear within a dozen yards or so once you do. The tree tunnel up top is a bit challenging, but opens up after .4 miles. The entire trail to Flume was a bit softer, but snowshoes made easy work of it.
Ran into dozens of people on the way down - probably 50 or more. Some in snow shoes, some in spikes, all chopping and packing the trail down. It might be a bit choppy after today, but there is a very nice hard pack underneath. |
