Comments
Comments: Disappointing when the day was forecast bluebird, was sunny at first lookout, no wind however high grey clouds by the time we reached Greenleaf, no sun and as predicted 20-30 mph wind. Bridal was packed to first lookout, then loose granular snow over a firm base to the hut. Very loose starting to the summit in the trees, which got torn up easily. Firm wind swept hard pack from trees to Lafayette summit. Down the ridge, sections were firm wind swept, sections were loose where the snow was pushed by the wind. Really no totally "right" traction. We wore snowshoes but then abused them on the open rocks, most others we passed wore spikes but those rototilled the trail where soft. Some pretty deep post holes.
Falling waters was also rototilled pretty bad since we saw few snowshoes. Also some deep postholes and a number of wallow holes??
Probably our two sets of shoes didn't fix much of these beauties. Everything on the ridge today was wind swept by gusty 20-30 mph westerly wind.
