Comments
Comments: All the trails had a fresh inch of snow, and some drifts. The road was still soft so I wore snowshoes the whole time. Off trail my tail extensions came in really handy for float. One section going up South Hale was wicked steep and deep and took a lot of effort. The flat areas were quite supportive though, taking care around spruce traps. I launched the Whitewall whack very soon on the A-Z trail. The open birch glades go on for about a mile, then the last half mile gets a bit scrappy in the spruce. The grade is very mellow the whole way. It was a great day for this hike and I saw nobody except a few snowmobiles on the Zealand road walk, which they share for some sections. I did see a few other tracks though on my way out.
