Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Hi Cannon above the dodge cutoff is a bit of a mess. A large tree down just above the cutoff, then above 3,500’ dozens of downed pine branches requiring lots of crawling. Lower Hi Cannon and the rest of the trails are in comparatively good shape. I wore snowshoes the whole time.

Comments
Comments: I was the first one up since snow on Hi Cannon. The lower part had maybe 2 to 4 inches of snow drifted in over the trench, sometimes more. Up higher, the drifts became much larger. And honestly, the trail conditions were pretty bad. Lots of crawling under Pines, getting showered by snow, sketchy steep traverses, squeezing through scrubs. The ladder was fully covered and in my opinion requires crampons, which I unfortunately didn’t bring. That’s why I decided to go down Lonesome Lake Trail. Three others apparently went down Hi Cannon, I hope they are OK. The day was absolutely gorgeous, blue skies, no wind, stunning views. Snowshoers had broken out Lonesome Lake Trail down from Cannon, so that turned out to be easy and a lot of fun.
