We started this loop from behind the White Mountain Hotel and Resort. While it had snowed several inches the night before, we were able to make this hike in miscrospikes and Hillsounds. In fact, we felt that the traction from these devices worked better than snowshoes when navigating the steep pitches up White Horse Ledge Trail from Bryce Path going counterclockwise (which is the recommended way to go). While the trail is mostly very clearly blazed in yellow, we had difficulty figuring out where to pick up the trail once we came to the open summit (having AllTrails for this reason was very helpful). Perhaps because of the fresh snow and steepness, this hike was more challenging than the specs would suggest. |
