Comments
Comments: Saturday was a busy busy day on Moosilauke! Our group of two did a double traverse — Glencliff up to the summit, Gorge Brook down to the lodge, back up via Hurricane and Carriage Rd, and then down via Glencliff.

We broke Glencliff out after Friday’s snow and were the first folks on the summit. As Sunday’s reports note, Gorge Brook and Carriage Road have gotten a lot of traffic. Hurricane has gotten some traffic (we were the second(?) ones there midday on Sat), but it was still very soft. Even without snow tonight/tomorrow, you’d definitely need to wear snowshoes (or skis) on Hurricane and also from the summit to the Glencliff/Carriage junction. Glencliff/Carriage got a lot of traffic during the day but will keep getting drifted in. A few bootpacking skiers left some unfortunate postholes in the flat part between the Glencliff/Carriage junction and the top, but hopefully these will get drifted in soon. There was still plenty of snow above treeline and we were happy in snowshoes. We didn’t tag it, but South Peak looked broken.

Thanks to the many folks who widened Glencliff during the day on Saturday. It was 2.5-3 snowshoes wide at the end of the day — a nice relaxed treat compared to our morning ascent!
